Composer, musician, instruments builder, Godfried-Willem Raes is first and foremost an inventor. He is the founder of the Logos foundation, of which he is still the president, and is professor of experimental music composition at the Ghent Royal Conservatory. His work has soon turned into a reflection of the means to perform really contemporary music. The answer he gave to this questionning has involved every possible cutting edge technology: electronic, cybernetic, sonars, radars, etc. He has then developed human-machine interfaces – and their repertoire – such as synthesizers like the dodekadent, musical pillows – the pneumaphones, various modified bicycles, up to the creation of a complete robot-orchestra. Godfried-Willem Raes has received us in the Logos Tetrahedron, the concert hall of the foundation, where his orchestra regularly perform.
